13.6 HAMILTON PEAK (1922m) is an easy climb in summer from either Craigieburn or Broken River ski-fields utilising the screes in either upper basin. An alternative and more interesting route can be had by ascending the Camp Saddle track from the Broken River ski-field access road. At the treeline climb the grassy slopes (watch for spaniards) to join the the craggy Southeast Ridge. After numerous false tops, finally the radio tower on the summit is reached. Descend to the headwaters of Broken River on screes then sidle on the true right to join the zig zag access road. (Grade. 1)
13.7 HAMILTON PEAK (1922m) may be accessed from Cass Saddle climbing directly up the huge screes (not a lot of fun going up but descent is worthwhile). It takes about 2-3 hours to get to Cass Saddle from the Highway 73 via the Cass River. This scree slope IS extremely avalanche prone in winter! (Grade. 1)
13.8 MT CHEESEMAN (2031m) is normally reached as a ridge traverse from the upper basin of Cheeseman ski-field. (Grade. 1-) It may also be ascended on the long steepening ridge that rises on the south side of Tim’s Stream from the ski-field access road. This route involves a bit of a bush-bash. Alternatively climb to the basin behind HOGS BACK (1032m) then follow the Southeast Ridge to the summit. (Grade. 1+)
13.9 MT CHEESEMAN (2031m) is reached easily from the headwaters of the Ryton River, gaining either the saddle to the south of the summit, or ascending the short & sweet West Ridge. The ridges and slopes in this area are popular in winter with ski-tourers, however all must be avalanche and cornice aware. (Grade. 1-)
13.10 MT CLOUDESLEY (2107m) may be reached via a variety of ways from the east as screes and ridges predominate. The easiest access is via the aptly named Long Spur route. Follow the road through Castle Hill Village into Thomas Bush (200m past the gate). Climb northwards anywhere to join the spur. This spur ducks and weaves its way towards the summit for 5km. Avoid the temptation to sidle on screes where the ridge steepens, as it tends to involve more effort than anticipated. MT ENYS (2194m) is normally an option via the relatively easy traverse being aware of cornices in winter, and taking plenty of water. (Grade. 1+)
13.11 MT COCKAYNE (1874m) : Usually this summit is reached by default on any visit to the upper slopes of Cheeseman ski-field, and could be visited as part of a traverse to MT CHEESEMAN (2031m). (Grade. 1-)
13.12 MT ENYS (2194) is commonly reached from MT CLOUDESLEY (2107m) on a relatively easy joining ridge (watch for cornices in winter). This route tends to be quite long. An alternative is to follow the glacial terraces above Whitewater Stream (south side) from the Porter River bridge on Highway 73. Cross Enys Stream where possible, regaining the highest terrace to again follow Whitewater Stream. Choose and follow the easiest / shortest scree gut or spur seen onto Dead Man Spur. The spur climbs rapidly to CARN BREA (2090m) then descends a short craggy section to a
